Chapter Name: Conduct project planning activities under close supervision of an experience project manager
Description:Learners actively engage in developing detailed project plans, such as creating WBS, scheduling tasks, estimating costs, and allocating resources, while receiving supervision. They also contribute to risk management and stakeholder communication planning.
Purpuse:To build learnersโ competency in project planning by engaging them in real planning tasks within a controlled and mentored environment.
Rational:Active participation in planning builds a deep understanding of dependencies, resource constraints, and mitigation strategies, equipping learners with essential planning capabilities.
Chapter Assessment
Expected Supporting Evidence:
Portfolio of Evidence 1: Schedule management plan - A documented plan created or reviewed by the learner outlining timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
Portfolio of Evidence 2: Project activities - A task list or project activity breakdown showing the learner's involvement in task identification or planning.
Portfolio of Evidence 3: Project activities sequence - A visual or tabular document (e.g., network diagram) prepared by the learner showing logical sequence of activities.
Portfolio of Evidence 4: Project activity resources and duration estimate - Estimates created or reviewed by the learner that define resource needs and timeframes for each activity.
Portfolio of Evidence 5: Project schedule - A Gantt chart or similar tool showing planned activities over time, demonstrating the learner's scheduling input.
Portfolio of Evidence 6: Work Breakdown Structure - A WBS developed by the learner breaking the project into manageable sections with hierarchical levels.
Portfolio of Evidence 7: Workplace log book - Learner's daily records reflecting participation in planning tasks, discussions, and tool use.
Workplace Activities
Activity 1: Attend to planning and developing a project time line and schedule such as planning schedule management, defining project activities, sequencing project activities, estimating project activity resources and duration, development of a project schedule and development of a Work Breakdown Structure
The learner is required to apply schedule planning skills under supervision, including defining and sequencing activities, estimating durations and resources, creating a project schedule, and developing a WBS.
Activity 2: Attend to planning and projecting the cost of a project such as planning project cost management, developing a project cost estimate and developing a project budget; attend to planning project management systems such as a project quality management plan, project human resources plan, project communication management plan, project risk management plan and project procurement management plan
The learner is expected to independently contribute to cost management planning and systems planning. This involves developing cost estimates, budgets, and supporting the creation of major project management system plans under supervision.
Activity 3: Attend to project planning activities for at least two projects
The learner is expected to complete planning tasks for two distinct projects under supervision, demonstrating practical application of schedule, cost, and project management system planning.
